Orientation Night

Hello, Group Leaders!

Paladin small church community leaders need to prepare themselves and their small church community for their first discussion series. And the best way to do this is kicking off the group—and the discussion series—with an orientation night!

You should include the following:

• Praying together as a group—both opening and closing prayers.
• Making everyone feel welcome and help them get to know one another through introductions and icebreakers.
• Discuss the importance and potential of faithful small church communities.
• Go over discussion guidelines and other expectations.
• Discuss our emphasis on open-ended questions and how we approach them.
• Introduce and hand out the books and other materials.
• Socialize after the close of the meeting (snacks recommended).

Rediscover Jesus

We recommend Rediscover Jesus by Matthew Kelly for the first study series. This accessible book is a good starting point for a small church community. We have a study guide available for this book. As our study guide for this book is meant for starting a new group, it is shorter and assumes the group will have an orientation night first.
